Inpatient Acute Psychiatric Treatment

The inpatient program at Cedar Springs provides an accepting, nonjudgmental treatment approach in a specialized environment for adults, adolescents and children who are experiencing an acute crisis.

The program is based on the concept that people have an inherent capacity to learn and grow, and is designed to meet the unique needs of each person and family. The staff members are sensitive to each person’s stage of life and can help patients learn to have their needs met in an acceptable way. Family members are encouraged to participate in the patient´s treatment. Stabilization is the focus, so as to allow the patient to move to a less restrictive level of care. Medical detoxification for adult substance abuse is an available service on the inpatient unit.

Services include:

  • Diagnostic and evaluation services
  • Individual, family, and group therapy
  • Intensive milieu therapy
  • Occupational and recreational therapy
  • Play therapy for children
  • Individualized education services
  • Case management and discharge planning
